Resumo: Objective: To identify the frequency of adolescents who work and the association with drug use, mental health and problems of life they face. Methods: Descriptive-analytical, cross-sectional and quantitative study conducted with 539 adolescents enrolled in the Family Health Strategy of a municipality in southern Minas Gerais. A characterization questionnaire, the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire, and the Drug Use Screening Inventory were used for data collection. Data were analyzed using statistical software to perform associations between variables, using the chi-square test, Fisher's exact test, odds ratio and Mann-Whitney tests. Results: It was found that 17.8% of the adolescents worked. There was no significant association between the variable work activity and drug use, change in mental health, and corrected global, absolute and relative density of problems faced in life. Conclusion: Adolescents who worked had higher alcohol consumption, were mostly classified as normal in terms of mental health, and had lower means of behavioral, health and psychiatric disorders. More studies are needed to unravel the risks and benefits of work activity in the adolescents’ life.

Universidade Estadual de Londrina2019-10-07info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfapplication/pdfapplication/pdfhttps://ojs.uel.br/revistas/uel/index.php/anh/article/view/3806410.5433/anh.2019v1.id38064Advances in Nursing and Health; Vol. 1 (2019): ADVANCES IN NURSING AND HEALTHAdvances in Nursing and Health; Vol. 1 (2019): ADVANCES IN NURSING AND HEALTHAdvances in Nursing and Health; v. 1 (2019): ADVANCES IN NURSING AND HEALTH2675-1798reponame:Advances in Nursing and Healthinstname:Universidade Estadual de Londrina (UEL)instacron:UELporengspahttps://ojs.uel.br/revistas/uel/index.php/anh/article/view/38064/26182https://ojs.uel.br/revistas/uel/index.php/anh/article/view/38064/26183https://ojs.uel.br/revistas/uel/index.php/anh/article/view/38064/26184Copyright (c) 2020 Advances in Nursing and Healthinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessFelipe, Adriana Olimpia BarbosaTerra, Fábio de SouzaCosta, Andreia Cristina Barbosade Andrade, Maria Betânia TintiMoreira, Dênis da SilvaCarvalho, Ana Maria Pimenta2022-06-30T14:52:09Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/38064Revistahttps://www.uel.br/revistas/uel/index.php/anh/indexPUBhttps://www.uel.br/revistas/uel/index.php/anh/oaianh@uel.br2675-17982675-1798opendoar:2023-01-13T10:34:59.725694Advances in Nursing and Health - Universidade Estadual de Londrina (UEL)false
