Resumo: The objective of this work is to analyze in novel Angústia, written by Graciliano Ramos, how the male narrator, prisioner of a tormented past and old patriarchal conceptions, traces a misogyne picture of women that surrounded him, seeing them like only sexual objects, mainly when these women attempt the first steps towards the private sphere and start to occupy the public space, a subversion to the awaited role of submission to male order which they were relegated.
