Resumo: The purpose of this essay is to study some differences and similarities in the thinking of three distinct critics, from a common point that worries everyone: the cultural relationship between the western metropolis and its other, the east, whether it be Brazil or Palestine. Crossed by the question of identity and resistance in non-metropolitan regions, Roberto Schwarz, Silviano Santiago and Edward Said, try different alternatives to the problem, more than ever contemporary: in the present of globalization and empire, how not to reproduce the hegemonic discourse when working with categories such as pluralism, hybridism and de-hierarchization?
