Resumo: The comic is an important element in the works of Moacyr Scliar, especially in O exército de um homem só. But the laughter provoked by his ironic form of literary representation is not a kind of relaxing laughter, but the denunciation of emptiness, once nothing is articulated as it would be of waiting. So, the objective of this article is to analyze the way as comicity is constructed in that work, unmasking the mechanisms used to make the reader to laugh. The intention is to elucidate the form by which the author, telling an involving history, provokes the relaxation, followed of the essential reflection that exists in the spirit of an artistic text.

Entretanto, o riso que provém de sua forma irônica de representação literária não é um riso de pura descontração, mas a denúncia de um vazio, de algo que não se articula como seria de se esperar. Assim, o objetivo deste artigo é analisar o modo como se processa a construção da comicidade na obra, desvendando os mecanismos empregados com vistas a fazer rir o leitor.
