Resumo: This essay discusses the notion of evil‘s representation in the contemporary culture and arts, particularly through Sérgio Sant’Anna’s fiction where are considered the relations between barbarism, testimony, discourse and lector. The shock experience, the insensibility, the solidarity, and the pact of reading are brought into light through the short stories “The monster” and “The meat packet”.
