Resumo: The rewriting is a tool used in postcolonial literature which works with the writing of the marginalized (colonized, blacks, women, ethnic and sexual minorities). Through it, the author may question the values contained in a previous text. That is the technique Esmeralda Barros uses in her text “Guarde Segredo”, a rewriting of Lima Barreto’s Clara dos Anjos. This paper aims to demonstrate the questions that the author raises in relation to the original text.
