World map: challenges of 21st century anthropology

Resumo: Appreciating the great events of contemporary world history is synonymous with the unmistakable perception that the world has diminished with the naked eye. It is increasingly common for individuals and communities in any region of the globe to be affected by events that occur far from their areas of activity and experience. Economy, politics, society ... everything seeks to become universal. Within this process, sometimes so unintelligible, is that anthropology requires new facets and ways of understanding how the other moves and articulates in relation to his equals. It is an arduous task, but it is also a development requirement that the history of men in this complex world has imposed on the human sciences.

É cada vez mais comum indivíduos e comunidades de quaisquer regiões do globo serem afetados por acontecimentos que ocorrem longe de suas áreas de atuação e vivência. Economia, política, sociedade... tudo procura fazer-se universal. No interior desse processo às vezes tão ininteligível é que a antropologia requer novas facetas e formas de entender como o outro se movimenta e se articula em relação aos seus iguais.
