Resumo: Editors' note: The article "The reconstruction of reality in the Social Sciences" was originally published in two parts. The first appeared in issue 82 of Revista Anhembi according to the text's explanatory note. The second part was published in issue 83 of the same journal, which came out in October 1957. Both parts of the article were published as a chapter in Florestan Fernandes' book, "Empirical Foundations of Sociological Explanation", edited by Cia. Ed National in 1959. Editora Ática republished the complete article in the book "Florestan Fernandes - Great Social Scientists Collection", organized by Octavio Ianni in 1986. Revista Mediações, upon authorization, publishes the first part of the article presented in issue 82 of the Revista Anhembi. The notes appear numbered in the text in parentheses.

A Revista Mediações, mediante autorização, publica a primeira parte do artigo apresentado no número 82 da Revista Anhembi.
