The 2010 census and the first readings about spatial mobility of the population in the metropolitan area of Campinas

Resumo: In this article the issues of spatial mobility of the population in the Metropolitan Area of Campinas (MAC) will be analyzed, emphasizing the relationship between location of residence and employment. Considering the close relationship between migration and commuting, we emphasize how intra-metropolitan migration and its main determinant, the production of urban space, help us understand the process of spatial localization of the population. The increase in mobility over the last decades has been analyzed from a comparative perspective on commuting data from the Demographic Censuses of 2000 and 2010. It should be emphasized that maintaining the importance of Campinas for daily commuting and change in flow amount for certain municipalities, may be associated with an internal reorganization of investment, population and employment.

Considerando a estreita relação entre a migração e a mobilidade pendular, enfatizamos como a migração intrametropolitana e o seu principal determinante, a produção do espaço urbano, ajudam-nos a entender o processo de localização espacial da população. O aumento da mobilidade ao longo das últimas décadas foi analisado em perspectiva comparada a partir dos quesitos sobre deslocamento pendular nos Censos Demográficos de 2000 e 2010.
