Resumo: This article proposes a theoretical-methodological model of analysis that studies the ways in which photography documents the disputes over the visible from sexual and gender dissidences and non-hegemonic bodies, a model based on the politics of the gaze of Mieke Bal (2016), the scriptural framings of Alejandra Castillo (2020) and photography as a ritual by Susan Sontag (2006). The article analyzes the series While the Lion Sleeps (2017-2019) by the Mexican photographer Armando Belsoj (Tepic, Nayarit, 1989), who documents semi-clandestine LGBTIQ+ night performances in the conservative city of León. The article studies the political power of images to activate queer/cuir memory (DUNN, 2021; VILLAPLANA LUIZ, 2017) and generate new scriptural frames (CASTILLO, 2020).
