Resumo: | This work combines the socio-cognitive stance taken by most of the members area of Text Linguistics and objective scholars investigate the construction of meaning in the genre charge via the recategorization process, whose configuration can combine verbal and non-verbal language. We focus on the construction of the referents, assuming the ground that they are not always approved by referential expressions explicit in the textual surface. To realize this study, we conducted qualitative research and descriptive nature of the data, from a corpus consisting of cartoons, selected major newspapers in Teresina/PI and produced in the period 2010- 2012. The theoretical underpinnings of this study are focused on authors such as Koch and Cunha - Lima (2007), Mondada and Dubois (2003), Lima (2009) and Kress and Van Leeuwen (1996), among others. The results suggest that the various semiosis involving the setting of the cartoons, work in a similar way to the referring expressions and functions that depend on the purpose of the re-categorization of charge, but are always licensed by metaphor or metonymy, highlighting critical situations or exacerbate features referent. The recategorization in corpus research is presented in three levels: i) directly from the image itself, in instances in which the figures form a complex to cause recategorization; ii) triggered by textual materiality that composes multimodal text anchoring himself in However, the image; iii) indirectly, requiring more effort interlocutor for its reconstruction, amounting, respectively, the degree of implicitness of recategorization. |

The process of recategorization in charge genre: a study in the light of socio-cognitive perspectiveO processo de recategorização no gênero charge: um estudo à luz da perspectiva sociocognitivaChargeMultimodalityRecategorizationChaargeMultimodalidadeRecategorização.This work combines the socio-cognitive stance taken by most of the members area of Text Linguistics and objective scholars investigate the construction of meaning in the genre charge via the recategorization process, whose configuration can combine verbal and non-verbal language.
