Resumo: This study aims to analyze historical aspects, from the newspapers O Intransigente, Itabuna-BA, and Diário da Tarde, Ilheus-BA, in 1949, through regional policy evidenced in the newspapers, both of property colonels cocoa. The research is based from the theoretical contributions on the political patronage of Maria Isaura Pereira de Queiroz (1969) and Raymundo Faoro (1987), as well as issues related to Coronelismo from its inception until its decline as economic power of Victor Nunes Leal (1949), Gustavo Falcon (1995), among others. With it, you can make important reflections on the use of language and meanings in which the conditions of production are configured by the pursuit of political power and the maintenance of status.

A pesquisa fundamenta-se a partir das contribuições teóricas sobre o patronato político, de Maria Isaura Pereira de Queiroz (1969) e Raymundo Faoro (1987), bem como questões relacionadas ao Coronelismo desde o seu surgimento até a sua decadência enquanto poder econômico, de Victor Nunes Leal (1949), Gustavo Falcón (1995), entre outros.
