The use of the conclusive junctor “então” in the Discoursive Tradition Letter

Resumo: The aim of this article is to analyze the manifestation of the conclusive junctor então in the Discoursive Traditions personal letters and readers’ and editors’ letter, seeking to show that each Tradition presents different uses of the item então as a conclusive junctor and that that difference is related to differences in the communicative purposes of these texts. To do so, this analysis is based on Kabatek’s (2006) proposal about Discoursive Tradition and Raible’s (2001) proposal about Junction. As a result, we showed that the Tradition reader’s and editor’s letter promotes more the conclusive uses, especially those with important argumentative dimension, due to the social function of those letters that is to show opinion.

Para tanto, levamos em conta a proposta de Kabatek (2006) sobre Tradição Discursiva e de Raible (2001) sobre Junção.
