Resumo: The purpose of this review is to synthesize the ideals developed by the authorsDaron Acemoglu and James A. Robinson in Chapter 3 of the book Why nations fail: the origins ofpower, prosperity and poverty. The work has fifteen chapters that are interconnected by the centralproblematic, whose main question stands out from the title: “Why do nations fail?”. The chapteraddressed in the review is responsible for precisely identifying the causes of inequalities betweendeveloped and developing countries.
