Environmental systems, vulnerability and use and occupation in the municipality of Assú/RN

Resumo: From the point of view of the holistic conception and based on integrated landscape studies, the research discusses the relationship between physical and human elements for the environmental planning of the municipality of Assu/RN. For this purpose, three fundamental phases were defined: the bibliographic investigation, the cartographic investigation with stages of pre-processing, digital processing and post-processing, and the analysis of the data in the office. Based on the physical elements of geology, geomorphology, soils, climate, vegetation and hydrography it was possible to establish the mapping of eight environmental systems, determine their environmental vulnerability and then define their relation to land use. The systems Interplanal Depression of the Caico Complex and Residual Crests and Inselbergs presented the worst indexes of vulnerability to desertification. The systems Serra do Mel Plateau, Piranhas-Açu River Plain, Jandaira Dissected Interior Tablelands, Interior Tablelands with Alluvial Deposits and the Interplanal Depression of the Açu Formation presented medium vulnerability. Only the Apodi-Mossoro Interplanatic Depression system presented low vulnerability.

Para ello, se trazaron tres fases fundamentales: el levantamiento bibliográfico, el levantamiento cartográfico con etapas de preprocesamiento, procesamiento digital y postprocesamiento; y el análisis de los datos en el despacho. A partir de los elementos físicos sectoriales de la geología, la geomorfología, los suelos, el clima, la vegetación y la hidrografía fue posible perfilar la cartografía de ocho sistemas ambientales, determinar su vulnerabilidad ambiental y luego establecer una relación con el uso y la ocupación del suelo. Los sistemas Depresión Interplana del Complejo Caicó y Crestas e Inselbergs Residuales presentaron los peores índices de vulnerabilidad a la desertificación. El Altiplano de Serra do Mel, la Planicie del Río Piranhas-Açu, el Sistema de Tableros Interiores Disecados de Jandaíra, el Sistema de Tableros Interiores con Depósitos Aluviales y la Depresión Interplana de la Formación Açu presentaron una vulnerabilidad moderada. Sólo la Depresión Interplana del Apodi-Mossoró presentó una baja vulnerabilidad.  Sob o ponto de vista da concepção holística e com base nos estudos integrados da paisagem, a pesquisa discute a relação entre elementos físicos e humanos para o planejamento ambiental do município de Assú/RN. Para tanto, delineou-se três fases fundamentais: o levantamento bibliográfico, o levantamento cartográfico com etapas de pré-processamento, processamento digital e pós-processamento; e a análise dos dados em gabinete. A partir de elementos físicos setoriais de geologia, geomorfologia, solos, clima, vegetação e hidrografia foi possível delinear o mapeamento de oito sistemas ambientais, determinar sua vulnerabilidade ambiental e em seguida estabelecer relação com o uso e ocupação da terra. Os sistemas Depressão Interplanáltica do Complexo Caicó e Cristas Residuais e Inselbergs apresentaram os maiores índices de vulnerabilidade aos processos de desertificação. Os sistemas Planalto Serra do Mel, Planície Fluvial do Piranhas-Açu, Tabuleiros Interiores Dissecados do Jandaíra, Tabuleiros Interiores com Depósitos Aluviais e a Depressão Interplanáltica da Formação-Açu apresentaram vulnerabilidade moderada.
