Resumo: This article aims to discuss the state of forest cover in Paraná, Brazil, especially in the Southwest region. We seek to highlight the impacts on forest cover from the process of effective occupation in Southwest region, started in the 1950s and 1960s, also addressing a survey conducted by the SOS Mata Atlântica Foundation and the National Institute for Space Research (INPE) between the years 2008 and 2010 as a basis to analyze the current situation of forest cover in Paraná´s Southwest. As the discussions and data, we can see how much the forest has been cleared and what remains in terms of the forests remaining in the region.

Buscamos destacar os impactos na cobertura florestal a partir do processo de ocupação efetiva da região Sudoeste nas décadas de 1950 e 1960, abordando também um levantamento realizado pela Fundação SOS Mata Atlântica e pelo Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) entre os anos de 2008 e 2010, como fundamento para analisar o panorama atual da cobertura florestal no Sudoeste paranaense.
