Digital presence of IFPB libraries: mapping, analysis and proposition

Resumo: | Objective: Digital information is present in all daily activities, and it has been demanded that organizations position themselves digitally, generating engagement and constituting a new dynamic of communication: in a network and without borders. The use of social media has become an essential requirement. The objective was to understand the strategies and practices employed by the public educational libraries of the Federal Institute of Paraíba in digital social media in order to propose solutions in compliance with the contemporary digital dynamics. Methodology: Analyze the performance of seventeen information units, through bibliographical and documentary research, observing and analyzing existing social media, based on qualitative data: user attraction, information availability, service, personalization, promotion, accessibility and formalization. The mapping made it possible to identify the incipient digital presence of the public educational libraries of the IFPB. In view of this, the investigation began to be conducted using the Science-Action method, establishing guiding principles from the testicular libraries of Campina Grande and Catolé do Rocha. It was applied to the two librarians who manage these units. Results: An incipient digital presence of IFPB public educational libraries was identified. The level of positioning and digital engagement was low. It was found that there is no institutional policy regulating the management of social media in libraries. Conclusions: It is recommended to prepare a Handbook of Good Practices in Social Media for Libraries and Librarians, based on the design sprint method, approved by means of an institutional resolution. Future studies, accompanied by practical tests, will be able to attest even more to the validity and effectiveness of the method. |

El uso de las redes sociales se ha convertido en un requisito imprescindible. El objetivo fue comprender las estrategias y prácticas empleadas por las bibliotecas públicas educativas del Instituto Federal de Paraíba en los medios sociales digitales para proponer soluciones de conformidad con la dinámica digital contemporánea. Metodología: Se analizó el desempeño de diecisiete unidades de información, a través de una investigación bibliográfica y documental, observando y analizando los medios sociales existentes, a partir de datos cualitativos: atracción de usuarios, disponibilidad de la información, relación, personalización, promoción, accesibilidad y formalización. El mapeo permitió identificar la incipiente presencia digital de las bibliotecas públicas educativas de la IFPB. En vista de eso, la investigación pasó a ser conducida utilizando el método Ciencia-Acción, estableciendo principios rectores a partir de las bibliotecas de prueba de Campina Grande y Catolé do Rocha. Se aplicó un cuestionario a los dos bibliotecarios que gestionan estas unidades. Resultados: Se identificó una incipiente presencia digital de las bibliotecas educativas públicas de la IFPB. El nivel de posicionamiento y engagement digital fue bajo. Se encontró que no existe una política institucional que regule el manejo de las redes sociales en las bibliotecas. Conclusiones: Se recomienda elaborar un Manual de Buenas Prácticas en Redes Sociales para Bibliotecarios y Bibliotecarios, basado en el método design sprint, aprobado mediante resolución institucional. Futuros estudios, acompañados de pruebas prácticas, podrán atestiguar aún más la validez y eficacia del método.Objetivo: A informação digital está presente em todas as atividades do cotidiano, tendo sido demandado que as organizações se posicionem digitalmente, gerando engajamento e constituindo uma nova dinâmica de comunicação: em rede e sem fronteiras. O uso das mídias sociais tornou-se requisito essencial. Objetivou-se compreender as estratégias e práticas empregadas pelas bibliotecas educativas públicas do Instituto Federal da Paraíba nas mídias sociais digitais a fim de propor soluções em aquiescência com a dinâmica digital contemporânea. Metodologia: Analisou-se a atuação de dezessete unidades de informação, por meio de pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, observando e analisando as mídias sociais existentes, a partir de dados qualitativos: atração de usuários, disponibilização das informações, relacionamento, personalização, promoção, acessibilidade e formalização. O mapeamento possibilitou identificar a incipiente presença digital das bibliotecas educativas públicas do IFPB. Diante disto, a investigação passou a ser conduzida pelo método Ciência-Ação, estabelecendo-se princípios norteadores a partir das bibliotecas testes de Campina Grande e Catolé do Rocha. Aplicou-se questionário para as duas bibliotecárias gestoras dessas unidades. Resultados: Identificou-se incipiente presença digital das bibliotecas educativas públicas do IFPB. O nível de posicionamento e engajamento digital apresentaram-se baixos. Verificou-se que não há política institucional regulando a gestão de mídias sociais em bibliotecas. Conclusões: Recomenda-se a elaboração de um Manual de Boas Práticas em Mídias Sociais para Bibliotecas e Bibliotecários, com base no método design sprint, aprovado por meio de resolução institucional.
