The scientific production about the atlantic forest from the state of Espírito Santo: domain analysis

Objectives: identifies and characterizes the producing and financing institutions that have contributed to the advancement of research on the Atlantic Forest of the State, the financed research areas, the themes, the citing scientific journals and those co-cited in the domain. Methodology: It is a bibliometric and scientometric study based on a set of 150 Web of Science articles on the subject, covering the period between 1994 and 2020. Microsoft Excel and Bibliometrix package of Software R 4.0.3 are used to generate and represent scientific production indicators. Results: It highlights the institutions of Espírito Santo, São Paulo and other states bordering Espírito Santo as the main producers of knowledge on the subject and the federal funding agencies as the main funders, in addition to the Research Support Foundations of the Brazilian states, with emphasis on the of the State of São Paulo. The production starts to receive funding in 2009. The leading role of Espirito Santo Federal University in the field is evident, with a scientific production that has been growing continuously over the years. Brazilian journals cover 60% of the analyzed production. Conclusions: Attention is drawn to the importance of promoting local research institutions for the conservation of the Atlantic Forest and to the need to create state public policies that implement and support conservation actions, strengthening, thus, the interaction between government and research institutions.
