Scenery of patents related to babaçu in the context, of traditional knowledge associated with fruit

Resumo: Objective: To understand the scenario of patents related to babassu in the context of traditional knowledge associated with the fruit. Methodology: The study is characterized by being a descriptive research, with a patentometric and documental bias, with a quanti-qualitative approach.Results: The analysis of the results showed that patent applications related to babassu have large foreign corporations as their main applicants, among which are L’Oréal, Procter & Gamble and Unilever. The diachronic evolution of patent applications related to Babaçu was constant, from the year 1980, when the first filing occurred, until 1998, the number of applications remained stable, with an average of 5 filings per year. From 1999 onwards, there was a significant expansion, following an increase until 2019, with an average of 60 requests being filed per year. Regarding the traditional knowledge associated with babassu, the contents contained in the read and analyzed patents made it evident that there is a degree of connection with traditional knowledge linked to the fruit.Conclusions: Information Science has a great contribution in the field of technological information, through scientometric techniques, but it can also collaborate in the sphere of traditional knowledge, associating metric studies of information and Science, Technology and Innovation indicators with qualitative and contextual analysis.

Metodología: El estudio se caracteriza por ser una investigación descriptiva, con un sesgo patenteométrico y documental, con un enfoque cuanti-cualitativo. Resultados: El análisis de los resultados mostró que las solicitudes de patentes relacionadas con el babasú tienen como principales solicitantes a grandes corporaciones extranjeras, entre las que se encuentran L’Oréal, Procter & Gamble y Unilever. La evolución diacrónica de las solicitudes de patentes relacionadas con Babaçu fue constante, desde el año 1980, cuando se produjo la primera presentación, hasta 1998, el número de solicitudes se mantuvo estable, con un promedio de 5 solicitudes por año. A partir de 1999, hubo una expansión significativa, luego de un aumento hasta el año 2019, con un promedio de 60 solicitudes presentadas por año. En cuanto a los conocimientos tradicionales asociados al babasú, los contenidos contenidos en las patentes leídas y analizadas evidenciaron que existe un grado de conexión con los conocimientos tradicionales vinculados a la fruta.Conclusiones: La Ciencia de la Información tiene un gran aporte en el campo de la información tecnológica, a través de técnicas cienciométricas, pero también puede colaborar en el ámbito del conocimiento tradicional, asociando estudios métricos de información e indicadores de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación con análisis cualitativo y contextual.Objetivo: Entender o cenário das patentes relacionadas ao babaçu no contexto do conhecimento tradicional associado ao fruto. Metodologia: O estudo caracteriza-se por ser uma pesquisa descritiva, com viés patentométrico e documental, de abordagem quanti-qualitativa. Resultados: A análise dos resultados demonstrou que os pedidos de patentes relacionados ao babaçu possuem como principais depositantes grandes corporações estrangeiras, entre elas estão a L’Oréal, Procter & Gamble e Unilever. A evolução diacrônica dos pedidos das patentes relativas ao Babaçu apresentou uma constância, do ano 1980, onde ocorreu o primeiro depósito, até 1998, o número de pedidos se manteve estável, tendo uma média de 5 depósitos por ano. A partir de 1999 houve uma ampliação significativa seguindo numa crescente até o ano de 2019, sendo depositado, em média, 60 pedidos por ano.
