Digital memory and digital social networks: a study applied to Post-Graduate programs in the Northeast Information Science area

Objective: Discuss the presence of postgraduate programs in the area of Information Science (PPGCIs) in the Northeast of Brazil on digital social networks, specifically Facebook and Instagram, considering the potential contribution of this presence to preserving the memory of programs in a digital context. Methodology: The study consists of a quantitative approach, based on the Social Media Analytics (SMA) method and a literature review. Results: It points out digital social networks as tools that contribute not only to scientific communication and dissemination, but also to the construction of the digital memory of Information Science graduate programs in Northeast Brazil. In view of the appreciation of experiences insofar as it brings producers and users of information together. In addition, evidence and existence of an effort made by the PPGCIs in the northeast region to be present in at least one of these digital social networks, disseminating content on various themes of Information Science or related areas. The results of the visibility, influence and engagement metrics demonstrate the successful acceptance of content by information users (public) present in these communication channels. Conclusions: It also identifies the different performance profiles, engagement and content formats addressed among the eight programs analyzed, with emphasis on the PPGCI UFAL and the PPGCI UFS, demonstrating the importance of using the new info-communication spaces represented by digital social networks for visibility and greater range of digital memory of the northeast region of PPGCIs.
