Resumo: | Objective: On September 6th, 2021, Professor Luciana Duranti gave a lecture at the Postgraduation on Information Science, celebrating 10 years of the Faculty of Archival Science at the Federal University of Pará, Brazil. In her lecture, Professor Duranti shared how she became an archivist, her insights about the role of the profession, and the challenges that technology and social accountability brings to whoever wants to work with archives.Methodology: using her intellectual autobiography, Professor Duranti explained the principles of the profession, the nature of impartiality and professionalism in archival terms, the importance of documentary evidence and context preservation for accountability, the challenges that the digital environment presents for this purpose, and her contributions towards trustworthy record keeping today. Results: Professor Duranti explained the role of archivists as professionals and scientific third parties in guaranteeing the trustworthiness of archives, created using traditional and emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence. Archivists are the mediators between record creators and users, between the past and the future, and ensure the social value of archives. |

En su conferencia, la profesora Duranti compartió cómo se convirtió en archivista, sus ideas sobre el papel de la profesión y los desafíos que la tecnología y la responsabilidad social presentan para quien quiera trabajar con archivos. Metodología: Usando su autobiografía intelectual, la profesora Duranti explicó los principios de la profesión, la naturaleza de la imparcialidad y el profesionalismo en términos archivísticos, la importancia de las evidencias documentales y la preservación del contexto para la rendición de cuentas, los desafíos que presenta el entorno digital para este fin y sus contribuciones para el mantenimiento de registros confiables en la actualidad. Resultados: La profesora Duranti explicó el papel de los archivistas como profesionales, científicos y terceros que garantizan la confiabilidad de los archivos creados con tecnologías tradicionales y emergentes, como la Inteligencia Artificial. Los archivistas son los mediadores entre los creadores de registros y los usuarios, entre el pasado y el futuro, y aseguran el valor social de los archivos.Objetivo: Em seis de setembro de 2021, a Professora Luciana Duranti ministrou a aula inaugural do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciência da Informação, comemorando os 10 anos da Faculdade de Arquivologia da Universidade Federal do Pará, Brasil. Na sua palestra, a Professora Duranti compartilhou como se tornou arquivista, seus insights sobre o papel da profissão e os desafios que a tecnologia e a responsabilidade social trazem para quem quiser trabalhar com arquivos. Metodologia: Por meio da sua autobiografia acadêmica, a professora Duranti explanou sobre os princípios da profissão, o significado da imparcialidade e profissionalismo em termos arquivísticos, a importância da evidência documental e da preservação do contexto na transparência e prestação de contas, os desafios que o ambiente digital apresenta para esse fim, e suas contribuições acadêmicas na preservação de registros confiáveis. Resultados: A professora Duranti concluiu estabelecendo o papel dos arquivistas como profissionais e cientistas na garantia de confiabilidade dos arquivos criados, usando tecnologias tradicionais e emergentes, como a Inteligência Artificial.
