Resumo: | Objective: To analyze the judicial process as a potential source for the production of research in several areas of knowledge, since the documents produced by the bodies that make up the judiciary are of public interest and constitute a rich and varied source of information. Methodology: A descriptive research is carried out and makes use of documentary research to analyze the case of qualified homicide, from the Tribunal de Justiça do Estado do Pará (TJPA), which involved the defendant João Paes Bezerra in the 1970s, considered one of the biggest cases of serial killer in Brazil. Results: The case became known as the “Monstro do Morumbi”. The procedural documents that make up this type of document have data, documents and information that represent a relevant source for scientific research in different areas of knowledge such as Criminology, Psychiatry, Sociology, among others, as well as a means for recording institutional memory, capable of to highlight the way in which certain cases are handled in the judicial sphere and the social relations of individuals in a certain period of history. Conclusions: The bodies of the Brazilian judiciary keep in their files numerous court cases with content that, in the same type of document, may be able to serve different studies and in areas that are not limited solely to the historical aspect of the information. |

Metodología: Se realiza una investigación descriptiva y se utiliza la investigación documental para analizar el caso de homicidio calificado, del Tribunal de Justiça do Estado de Pará (TJPA), que involucró al acusado João Paes Bezerra en la década de 1970, considerado uno de los mayores casos de asesinos en serie en Brasil. Resultados: El caso pasó a ser conocido como el “Monstro do Morumbí”. Los documentos procesales que integran este tipo de documentos cuentan con datos, documentos e informaciones que representan una fuente relevante para la investigación científica en diferentes áreas del conocimiento como Criminología, Psiquiatría, Sociología, entre otras, así como un medio para el registro de la memoria institucional, capaz de resaltar la forma en que se manejan ciertos casos en el ámbito judicial y las relaciones sociales de los individuos en un determinado período de la historia. Conclusiones: Los órganos judiciales brasileños guardan en sus archivos numerosos procesos judiciales con contenido que, en un mismo tipo de documento, pueden servir para diferentes estudios y en áreas que no se limitan únicamente al aspecto histórico de la información.Objetivo: Analisar o processo judicial como fonte em potencial para a produção de pesquisas em diversas áreas do conhecimento, uma vez que os documentos produzidos pelos órgãos que compõem o judiciário são de interesse público e se constituem em uma rica e variada fonte de informação. Metodologia: Desenvolve-se uma pesquisa descritiva e faz uso do da pesquisa documental para analisar os autos de homicídio qualificado, do Tribunal de Justiça do Estado do Pará (TJPA), que envolveu o réu João Paes Bezerra na década de 1970, considerado um dos maiores casos de serial killer no Brasil. Resultados: O caso ficou conhecido como “monstro do Morumbi”. As peças processuais que compõem este tipo documental possuem dados, documentos e informações que representam relevante fonte para a pesquisa científica em diferentes áreas do conhecimento como a Criminologia, Psiquiatria, Sociologia dentre outras, além de um meio para o registro da memória institucional, capaz de evidenciar a maneira como determinados casos são conduzidos na esfera judiciária e as relações sociais dos indivíduos em um determinado período da história.
