Laurinda Santos Lobo : roupas, estilo de vida e as memórias da Belle Époque tropical

In the early twentieth century, in Brazil, the spaces of cities and women's costumes change themselves. In Rio de Janeiro, the project of transformation and modernization of the city marked the emergence of modern lifestyles, influenced by the ideas of French culture were assimilated and propagated mainly by the elite women. This research focuses on the journey of Laurinda Santos Lobo (1878-1946) considering it as representative of the lifestyle that emerges and spreads in the period of 1903-1930 between the segments of the elite encouraging these women to fashion diffuser. The realization of parties and receptions at the mansion located in Santa Teresa; the network established friendships with male and female personality who held power and prestige in the universes of artistic and political life; the visibility gained in the press, by disseminating their presence and costumes in elite sociability as "Marechale Elegance" provide clues about the character of contributions to leverage through their lifestyle new practices and fashion representations that connected modernity and modernization of the city. Are the new ways people relate, to dress, exposing themselves and present themselves publicly to glimpse the sources consulted, constituted by the Fon-Fon Magazine, Week Magazine and Journal for all. The notes and pictures from the press along with the biographical and memorialísticas sources and together with women's studies allow us to highlight the role that fashion to "la-Laurinda" played in the background
