Observatório da imprensa : da prática discursiva à produção de um efeito de verdade

It is not today that media production has been the subject of inquiries throughout the world, however, was during the last decades we could meet some professional initiatives in order to rescue the values of the function of journalism in society. Such initiatives have become larger projects in Brazil since the 1960s, with publications of journalist Alberto Dines, modeled on the American media criticism. One such project that is in place today is the Observatory of Press, which ruled in the model of "media critic" puts himself in the role of "observe and monitor" the work of the Brazilian media. Thus, in order to grasp the higher functioning of the practice of the OI journalistic discourse (in relation to a specific topic), built our corpus around the theme of abortion discussed by OI during the second round of the presidential campaign of 2010. We understand that this issue has generated a great controversy and that each position is supporting an effect of truth about abortion in Brazilian society. In this sense, the various positions on abortion, publicized by the media in Brazil, eventually influencing the presidential campaign of 2010 and therefore this issue was addressed in the construction of the criticisms of the OI in relation to Brazilian media. However, we believe that by producing the criticism the Oi also just defining what was his position on the issue supported by a true effect. We started our work from these two concerns: to understand how the operation is the discursive practice of the OI and seize the constitution of a true effect of their position on abortion. We start from the basic theoretical assumptions of pecheutiana Discourse Analysis, serving specifically in some later concepts developed by Dominique Maingueneau, also going by the studies of Michel Foucault about the construction of true effects. The methodological approach adopted after reading the file consisted of the analysis of discursive sequences that determine an axis of meaning and construction of the truth about abortion in an election year in relation to the news reported by mainstream media, the target of criticism of the OI. Analyzed the simulations produced by OI around this controversial issue realize that inhis speeches there is a constant work with the discourse of the Other, represented by the news reported by mainstream media. In this sense, there is a resumption of talks with the amount of depreciation and criticism that will culminate in the presentation of another version of the news, now the subject position of the OI. This process occurs by constitutive "interincompreensão", by the work of formations discursive and metaphorical effect. We note that the construction of these speeches not only induces the construction of criticism, which guide the formation of readers, but also just focusing on the construction of an effect of truth that legitimizes such sayings and ensures its circulation in the academic community and public as truth.
