Resumo: Changes in the daily routine and eating habits have caused significant modifications in the lifestyle of the world's population, triggering a phenomenon known as epidemiological transition, understood by the increase in chronic non-communicable diseases and the reduction of infectious and parasitic diseases nature. The aim of this study was to analyze the prevalence of systemic arterial hypertension and factors associated to schools children in Campo Mourão-PR. For this was carried out a cross-sectional, exploratory and descriptive quantitative study, developed with 277 students enrolled in the 5th year of public and private schools in the urban area of Campo Mourão-PR. We evaluated the nutritional status from the Body Mass Index and the risk for cardiovascular disease determined by Waist Circumference. To check the Arterial Blood Pressure were followed the recommendations of the VI Brazilian Guidelines on Arterial Hypertension, specific for children, the level of physical activity and food intake by the questionnaire from the National School-based student Health Survey. The PDFQ questionnaire evaluated the presence of the parents or guardians in the moment of the meals. The results showed that from the total number of students assessed, 12.3 % had altered blood pressure values, the most studied in public school (84.5%), was female (56.3%), had socioeconomic status classified as low income (51.6%) and was white skin (62.1%). Moreover, it was observed that 65.3% had a family historic of Systemic Arterial Hypertension, 51.6% were eutrophic, 45.1% were overweight/obesity, 14.8% had changed circumference waist, 92.1% were insufficiently active, 83.4% did not perform six meals /day, 65% ate beans rarely, 87% consumed fried snacks frequently, 58.5% ate sweets and 69.7% drank soda. It can be observed that there is an association between waist circumference values, family historic of Systemic Arterial Hypertension and the type of school attended by the student with the presence of altered blood pressure levels, in addition, a low amount of students consumed markers food from a healthy diet and a high intake of foods that are considered markers of an unhealthy diet.
