Nationalization and teaching of History in the State of Santa Catarina, in the first half of the 20th century

Resumo: This article identified the influence and the interrelation of policies and educational theories of the national State, in speeches about which History must to be taught and what for, in the state of Santa Catarina, in the first half of the 20th century. It is intended mainly to focus on the interrelation between the History that will be taught and the nationalization, given the centralization of the federal Government for this purpose – whether in the Administration, programs and monitoring. From the Ministry of Education came instructions to fight against different manifestations of the foreign cultures existing in Brazil, especially the uses of language and the teaching of History and Geography in countries where the different ethnic groups came from. The documentary sources consist of bibliographical material, especially speeches of Jonathas Serrano, one of the spokesmen of a particular conception of History of the period and one of the formulators of speeches and official policy programs, clippings of educational legislation, and reports of school inspectors.

Se pretende, principalmente, focalizar la interrelación entre la historia a ser enseñada y la nacionalización, teniendo en consideración la centralización del gobierno federal dirigida para tal finalidad, sea en la administración, en los programas y en la fiscalización. Del Ministerio de la Educación provenían instrucciones de combate a las diferentes manifestaciones de culturas extranjeras existentes en Brasil, especialmente los usos de la lengua y la enseñanza de la historia y de la geografía de los países de donde los diferentes grupos étnicos habían emigrado. Las fuentes documentales son constituidas por material bibliográfico, especialmente discursos de obras de Jonathas Serrano, uno de los portavoces de determinada concepción de historia del período y uno de los formuladores de discursos y programas de la política oficial, recortes de la legislación educacional e informes de inspectores escolares. Este artigo tem por objetivo identificar a influência e a inter-relação das políticas e teorias educacionais do Estado nacional, nos discursos sobre qual história ensinar e para que ensinar, em Santa Catarina, na primeira metade do século XX. Pretende-se, principalmente, focalizar a inter-relação entre a história a ser ensinada e a nacionalização, haja vista a centralização do governo federal voltada para tal finalidade, seja na administração, nos programas e na fiscalização. Do Ministério da Educação provinham instruções de combate às diferentes manifestações de culturas estrangeiras existentes no Brasil, especialmente os usos da língua e o ensino da história e da geografia dos países de onde os diferentes grupos étnicos haviam emigrado.
