Resumo: This paper, part of a doctoral thesis, seeks to provide a detailed picture of Euler's contribution to the construction of the Fundamental Principle of Dynamics. Euler modified the content of the Fundamental Principle and formulated a new one, expanding the understanding of the law proposed by Newton (known as F=ma). The main factors that contributed to the production of this new principle, the main names involved, and the consolidation of the principle now called Newton's Second Law are discussed. Euler's insertion in the construction of 18th century mechanics is presented, his conceptual conceptions and achievements, as well as the elements used by him for the elaboration of the new principle, in addition to the specific approach to the construction of the fundamental law of motion, as we know it today. Finally, the complete picture of Euler's new principle, drawn from Newtonian mechanics, is presented, which serves as an example of how scientific work occurs.

Euler modificó el contenido del Principio Fundamental y formuló uno nuevo, ampliando la comprensión de la ley propuesta por Newton (conocida como F=ma). Se discuten los principales factores que contribuyeron a la producción de este nuevo principio, los principales nombres involucrados y la consolidación del principio ahora llamado Segunda Ley de Newton. Se presenta la inserción de Euler en la construcción de la mecánica del siglo XVIII, sus concepciones conceptuales y realizaciones, así como los elementos utilizados por él para la elaboración del nuevo principio, además del abordaje específico de la construcción de la ley fundamental del movimiento, como lo conocemos hoy. Finalmente, se presenta el cuadro completo del nuevo principio de Euler, extraído de la mecánica newtoniana, que sirve como ejemplo de cómo ocurre el trabajo científico.Este artigo, recorte de uma tese de doutorado, busca oferecer uma imagem detalhada da contribuição de Euler na construção do Princípio Fundamental da Dinâmica. Euler modificou o conteúdo do Princípio Fundamental e formulou um novo, ampliando o entendimento da lei proposta por Newton (conhecida como F=ma). São abordados os principais fatores que contribuíram para a produção desse novo princípio, os principais nomes envolvidos, e a consolidação do princípio hoje chamado de Segunda Lei de Newton. É apresentada a inserção de Euler na construção da mecânica do século XVIII, suas concepções conceituais e realizações, bem como os elementos utilizados por ele para a elaboração do novo princípio, além da abordagem específica da construção da lei fundamental do movimento, como a conhecemos hoje.
