Resumo: This text presents a brief analysis of the history of women in Science and Astronomy and highlights some contributions to the formulation of stellar chemical composition, based on the last century, in which the history often presented omits the mishaps faced by them. The objective is to analyze historically how the condition of being a woman crossed the evolution and construction of the stellar phenomenon with the work of scientists, and how it crossed history within the temporal limits of the time, especially in relation to the studies of Cecilia Payne. It is a qualitative investigation, with bibliographic analysis as a methodological procedure, in order to establish relations of approximation with the object under study and the bibliographic sources. The results reverberate that Cecilia Payne carried out important research in the area of Astronomy, standing out for her studies of evolution and stellar composition. The majestic repercussion of her doctoral thesis did not bring her professional recognition, because she was a woman, and due to the difficulties she faced during her academic and professional life, it was a great highlight of the struggle of women in the scientific environment.

El objetivo es analizar históricamente cómo la condición de ser mujer cruzó la evolución y construcción del fenómeno estelar con el trabajo de los científicos, y cómo atravesó la historia dentro de los límites temporales de la época, especialmente en relación con los estudios de Cecilia Payne. Se trata de una investigación cualitativa, con el análisis bibliográfico como procedimiento metodológico, con el fin de establecer relaciones de aproximación con el objeto de estudio y las fuentes bibliográficas. Los resultados reverberan que Cecilia Payne realizó importantes investigaciones en el área de la Astronomía, destacándose por sus estudios de evolución y composición estelar. La majestuosa repercusión de su tesis doctoral no le trajo reconocimiento profesional, por ser mujer, y debido a las dificultades que enfrentó durante su vida académica y profesional, fue un gran destaque de la lucha de las mujeres en el ámbito científico.Este texto apresenta uma breve análise sobre a história das mulheres na Ciência e na Astronomia e destaca algumas contribuições para a formulação da composição química estelar, fundamentada no século passado, no qual a história frequentemente apresentada omite os percalços enfrentados por elas. O objetivo é analisar historicamente como a condição de ser mulher transpassou a evolução e construção do fenômeno estelar com o trabalho das cientistas, e como atravessou a história dentro dos limites temporais da época, principalmente em relação aos estudos de Cecilia Payne. Constitui-se em uma investigação de caráter qualitativo, tendo a análise bibliográfica como procedimento metodológico, a fim de estabelecer relações de aproximação com o objeto em estudo e as fontes bibliográficas. Os resultados reverberam que Cecilia Payne realizou pesquisas importantes na área da Astronomia, destacando-se pelos estudos de evolução e composição estelar.
