Resumo: Current analysis aims at analyzing whether the municipal accounting and the structure of employment/unemployment of Porto Velho (Rondônia State, Brazil) are susceptible to the impact of the Jirau and Santo Antônio Hydroelectric Plants (AHE). Was the structure of public finance in Porto Velho changed? Did the structure of employment/unemployment undergone any changes? Did high employment opportunities produce a higher level of income for the working population of Porto Velho? Current essay tries to answer these questions and findings will be compared with the predictions and expectations of the Basic Environmental Projects (PBAs) of Hydroelectric Plants. Attention will also be focused on the limits of the Social Compensation Programs in the two enterprises, and particularly on the supporting subprograms of the Municipality of Porto Velho.

Terá a estrutura das finanças públicas de Porto Velho se alterado? E a estrutura de emprego/desemprego terá sofrido alguma alteração? O maior número de oportunidades de emprego tem apresentado uma relação com melhor nível de renda da população ativa de Porto Velho?
