Resumo: | Current study is an empirical research based on a brief literature review which compares the materiality of teaching, gender issues and education agenda, by taking into account the media as producer of representations. Thirty-eight articles published in two weekly newspapers of national circulation, between the years 2001 and 2011, were investigated. Data analysis provides two conclusions: a) the female teacher is still described by caricatures and stereotypes linked to the priesthood, vocation and motherhood; b) the lack of objective conditions for teaching is represented and enhanced by the feminine conditions. |
