Resumo: Current study is an empirical research based on a brief literature review which compares the materiality of teaching, gender issues and education agenda, by taking into account the media as producer of representations. Thirty-eight articles published in two weekly newspapers of national circulation, between the years 2001 and 2011, were investigated. Data analysis provides two conclusions: a) the female teacher is still described by caricatures and stereotypes linked to the priesthood, vocation and motherhood; b) the lack of objective conditions for teaching is represented and enhanced by the feminine conditions.

Data analysis provides two conclusions: a) the female teacher is still described by caricatures and stereotypes linked to the priesthood, vocation and motherhood; b) the lack of objective conditions for teaching is represented and enhanced by the feminine conditions. Universidade Estadual De Maringá2015-07-01info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttp://www.periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/ActaSciHumanSocSci/article/view/2712710.4025/actascihumansoc.v37i2.27127Acta Scientiarum.
