Resumo: The present study aimed to diagnose and contrast the social economic conditions, before and after family settlement in two rural villages, Lageado and Roseira, in the municipality of Rio Negro, State of Paraná, southern Brazil. Those villages were chosen for their distinct characteristics of proximity to urban areas. In order to characterize the current socioeconomic situation, several field surveys were performed. The results showed that, due to multi-practice activities, the pluriactivity income increased in Lageado and decreased in Roseira. Regarding the pluriactivity income, the income from agricultural and cattle raising activities represented only 5.71% in Lageado and 11.26% in Roseira. Therefore, it seems that the greatest influence in the socioeconomic results of the families is directly related to the distance between urban and agricultural areas.

Therefore, it seems that the greatest influence in the socioeconomic results of the families is directly related to the distance between urban and agricultural areas.O presente trabalho teve como objetivo caracterizar e contrastar as condições socioeconômicas das famílias, anterior e posterior, ao assentamento realizado em duas vilas rurais denominadas Lageado e Roseira, localizadas no município de Rio Negro, Estado do Paraná, que se encontram na mesma região e propositalmente foram escolhidas para serem analisadas por possuírem características distintas quanto à proximidade de núcleos urbanos. O levantamento da situação socioeconômica das famílias foi realizado aplicando questionários a campo e as análises econômicas foram realizadas utilizando-se indicadores da teoria econômica da empresa, com um enfoque para a unidade de produção familiar. Os resultados evidenciaram que a renda da pluriatividade aumentou no Lageado e diminuiu na Roseira. Em relação à renda pluriativa, a renda das explorações agropecuárias representou 5,71% no Lageado e 11,26% na Roseira.
