Resumo: The changes in PSS of the soil submitted to conventional tillage and chisel plow were studied at the Technical Center of Irrigation of Universidade Estadual de Maringá (PR), August through December 1995. The PSS was sampled two times: before chiseling or conventional tillage and after harvesting. The PSS values were correlated with biomass and grain productivity for bean yield. The lack of randomness for biomass and grain productivity, and PSS did not allow application of traditional statistical tests to show the interactions between soil and plant in this field experiment. The spatial analysis showed that soil and plant attributes are space-dependent, within a range of approximately 10 meters. Regression analysis was inappropriate to identify the strong spatial relationship between plant productivity and PSS, but the cross semivariogram showed this relationship.
