Optimization of a gravity-operated limestone distribution equipment

Resumo: Changes in the mechanism of the IMASA limestone distribuition equipment are provided. (The modified equipment has been called optimized machine or optimized distributor). A conventional limestone distribuition equipment has been used as a source of standard data for analyzing and comparing the efficiency of conventional and optimized machines. Field experimentations have been performed in twelve strips of land (3 by 50 meters) by both machines, loaded with 750, 1500 and 3000 kg of limestone, respectively. Limestone distributed by machines have been collected into numbered containers and weighed. A mathematical model based on the factorial variance analysis has been adopted as the statistical basis for treating current research data. Major parameters comprise machines and load levels, as first and second factors, respectively. Optimized limestone distribution equipment exhibited a better uniformity of distribution and quantity closer to specifications when compared with conventional equipment for the load levels currently investigated

Um distribuidor de calcário convencional foi utilizado como referencial de análise dos dados para comparação da eficiência da máquina otimizada. Deste modo adotaram-se como elementos de teste de duas máquinas doze parcelas de 3m x 50m para cada máquina, e cargas de 750, 1500 e 3000 kg de calcário. Em seguida quantidades de calcário distribuídas foram coletadas em recipientes numerados e posteriormente pesadas para os dois tipos de máquina. Adotou-se como base estatística para o estudo dos dados um modelo matemático baseado na análise de variância fatorial, em que se consideram como parâmetros principais as máquinas, como sendo o primeiro fator, e os níveis de cargas utilizados como sendo o segundo fator.
