Resumo: The organic and mineral fertilization modifies the soil physical and chemical conditions, with singular effect on crop yields. Thus, the purpose of this work was to evaluate the effect of organic and mineral fertilization on corn yield and on physical and chemical characteristics of a red-yellow argisoil. The treatments were constituted of four doses (0, 10, 20 and 40 m3 ha-1) of organic matter, two ways of organic matter distribution (by throwing and in the groove) and three doses of NPK fertilization (0, 250 and 500 kg ha-1) with the 04-14-08 formulation, combined in the factorial scheme of the treatments (4x2x3) with four replications using the randomized blocks design. The organic fertilization promoted an increasing of the corn yield compounds. The organic matter with the dose of 40 m3 ha-1 presented similar production with the dose of 500 kg ha-1 of the NPK fertilizer. The association of organic matter and mineral fertilization, as well as the way of distribution, had no effect on the crop yield. The mineral fertilizer reduced the size of soil aggregates and the levels of calcium, magnesium and potash, and increased the phosphorous level in the soil. The organic fertilizer increased the levels of organic carbon, calcium, magnesium, potash and phosphorous in the soil. The mineral and organic fertilization did not interfered on the real density, apparent density and on the total porosity of the soil.
