Resumo: To analyze the effect of coffee intake in post-exercise pressure response in hypertensive, six subjects of both sexes (56,7±4,5 year) held three sessions of aerobic exercise. They drank 3 cups (140ml each) of coffee (CA), placebo (PL) or water (AG), at 10, 20 and 30 minutes post-exercise. Blood pressure was verified before every ingestion. Since then, new measures were taken at 15 minutes intervals of until it had completed 120 minutes of recovery. In AG protocol, blood pressure decreased 8.4 mmHg for systolic and 5.6 mmHg for diastolic compared to basal values. CA promoted increase by 4.3 mmHg for systolic pressure and 7.7 mmHg for diastolic. In PL, post-exercise hypotension occurred, but with reduced values in relation to AG. Conclude that coffee intake not only abolished this benefit promoted by exercise, but it also provoked a hypertensive response.

Department of Physical Education - State University of Maringá (UEM), Maringá-PR, Brazil2012-01-04info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionExperimental researchPesquisa experimentalapplication/pdfapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/RevEducFis/article/view/11442Journal of Physical Education; Vol 22 No 4 (2011); 601-612Journal of Physical Education; Vol. 22 Núm. 4 (2011); 601-612Journal of Physical Education; v. 22 n. 4 (2011); 601-6122448-2455reponame:Journal of Physical Education (Maringá)instname:Universidade Estadual de Maringá (UEM)instacron:UEMporenghttps://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/RevEducFis/article/view/11442/8659https://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/RevEducFis/article/view/11442/751375149895Nóbrega, Thereza Karolina Sarmento daMoura Junior, James SilvaBandeira, Naiane FerrazSantos, Amiltom da CruzSilva, Alexandre Sérgioinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2023-01-10T15:38:05Zoai:periodicos.uem.br/ojs:article/11442Revistahttp://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/RevEducFis/indexPUBhttps://old.scielo.br/oai/scielo-oai.php||revdef@uem.br2448-24552448-2455opendoar:2023-01-10T15:38:05Journal of Physical Education (Maringá) - Universidade Estadual de Maringá (UEM)false
