Resumo: The life style of the modern men has changed in a quickly and broadly way. These changes affects especially the alimentary habits and the level of physical activity. Such changes are recogneced as unhealthy habits and are associated with an increased prevalence of chronic diseases, among them obesity has great importance. In this way, there is a need for a better understanding about the current forms of obesity treatment. The aims of this study were to analyze, based on a systematic literature revision, the indications and the main results of the surgical and conventional (diet and physical activity) treatments. The two treatment forms have presented progresses in the last years. Despite, there is still a serie of interrogations regarding the limits and applications of each procedure. However, there is an evident tendency on the association of the methods, based on a multiprofissional intervention as a form of enhancing the results.

However, there is an evident tendency on the association of the methods, based on a multiprofissional intervention as a form of enhancing the results. Department of Physical Education - State University of Maringá (UEM), Maringá-PR, Brazil2009-04-29info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/RevEducFis/article/view/3481Journal of Physical Education; Vol 20 No 1 (2009); 131-143Journal of Physical Education; Vol. 20 Núm. 1 (2009); 131-143Journal of Physical Education; v. 20 n. 1 (2009); 131-1432448-2455reponame:Journal of Physical Education (Maringá)instname:Universidade Estadual de Maringá (UEM)instacron:UEMporhttps://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/RevEducFis/article/view/3481/4011Rocha, Fabiana AlonsoCattai, Glauco Barnez PignataNardo, Cláudia Cristina SanchesNardo Junior, Nelsoninfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2023-01-10T15:37:16Zoai:periodicos.uem.br/ojs:article/3481Revistahttp://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/RevEducFis/indexPUBhttps://old.scielo.br/oai/scielo-oai.php||revdef@uem.br2448-24552448-2455opendoar:2023-01-10T15:37:16Journal of Physical Education (Maringá) - Universidade Estadual de Maringá (UEM)false
