Resumo: The aim of this study was to test the effects of addition of the “inertia” aerobic term [Time = AWCinertia / (Velocity – CVinertia . (1 - exp (-tempo/τ)))] in the traditional hyperbolic velocity-time equation in canoeing. The distances ranging 130-2.000 m were covered by male (M) and female (F) canoeists in maximal velocity. In both groups, CVinertia (M: 3,19 ± 0,17 m/s; F: 2,94 ± 0,11 m/s) was significantly lower than CV (M: 3,31 ± 0,21 m/s; F: 3,01 ± 0,14 m/s), and the opposite pattern was observed between AWCinertia (M: 165,5 ± 33,0 m; F: 139,0 ± 30,3 m) and AWC (M: 103,6 ± 32,6; F: 105,3 ± 20,7 m). The aerobic participation predicted by the proposed “inertia” model during several distances, provided estimates close to those defined by the literature. Therefore, it was concluded that the inclusion of the “inertia” term can provide adequate estimates of aerobic contribution during canoeing.

(1 - exp(-tempo/τ))) à equação tradicional velocidade-tempo na canoagem. Distâncias entre 130-2.000 m foram percorridas pelos canoístas homens (H) e mulheres (M) à máxima velocidade. Em ambos os grupos, VCritinércia (M: 3,19 ± 0,17 m/s; F: 2,94 ± 0,11 m/s) foi significantemente menor que a VCrit (M: 3,31 ± 0,21 m/s; F: 3,01 ± 0,14 m/s), sendo o padrão oposto observado para a CTAinércia (M: 165,5 ± 33,0 m; F: 139,0 ± 30,3 m) e CTA (M: 103,6 ± 32,6; F: 105,3 ± 20,7 m). A participação aeróbia predita pelo modelo “inercial” proposto, nas diversas distâncias, forneceu estimativas próximas àquelas definidas pela literatura. Concluiu-se daí que a inclusão de um tempo “inercial” pode prover estimativas adequadas de contribuição aeróbia na canoagem.Department of Physical Education - State University of Maringá (UEM), Maringá-PR, Brazil2008-05-15info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/RevEducFis/article/view/3398Journal of Physical Education; Vol 16 No 1 (2005); 13-19Journal of Physical Education; Vol. 16 Núm. 1 (2005); 13-19Journal of Physical Education; v. 16 n. 1 (2005); 13-192448-2455reponame:Journal of Physical Education (Maringá)instname:Universidade Estadual de Maringá (UEM)instacron:UEMporhttps://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/RevEducFis/article/view/3398/2430Nakamura, Fábio YuzoBorges, Thiago OliveiraVoltarelli, Fabrício AzevedoGobbo, Luis AlbertoKoslowiski, Alvaro AccoPereira, Polyana Cristina FerreiraKokubun, Eduardoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2023-01-10T15:37:12Zoai:periodicos.uem.br/ojs:article/3398Revistahttp://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/RevEducFis/indexPUBhttps://old.scielo.br/oai/scielo-oai.php||revdef@uem.br2448-24552448-2455opendoar:2023-01-10T15:37:12Journal of Physical Education (Maringá) - Universidade Estadual de Maringá (UEM)false
