The world’s perception of violence and identify of agents, contribute for detect of gender’s violence, showing a seriousness and frequency of practices.O artigo aborda a violência de gênero em Maringá-PR, no período de 1987 a 1996, analisando os Registros de Ocorrências da Delegacia Especializada na Defesa da Mulher, numa perspectiva quantitativa e qualitativa, com o propósito de dar visibilidade ao fenômeno (in) visível da violência que atinge majoritariamente as mulheres, bem como elucidar os cenários e bastidores das práticas violentas de gênero. A institucionalização da violência de gênero e do atendimento especializado nas delegacias de mulheres contribuíram para trazer luz a uma questão cultural, legal e social, que muitas vezes é sub-denunciada.
