FOR A VICTORIOUS COOPERATIVISM IN THE AMAZON: the strategies and actions of the Cooperator Bruno de Menezes (1940 – 1955)

Resumo: This paper aims to discuss the cooperativism operationalized by Bento Bruno de Menezes Costa, a literary man from Pará with varied productions in the universe of literature. However, we are interested in connecting the mutualist precepts present in his texts, discussing doctrinal aspects correlated with the practice of founding mutual societies, which would be - in his opinion - the most viable way for Amazonian farmers to face isolation by joining forces. Thus, we analyzed the type of public policy focused on the agrarian issue institutionalized in the State of Pará in the 1940s and 1950s. To this end, we propose observing the mediation of the Assistance Service to Cooperativism, seen as Bruno de Menezes was their employee for ten years (1945 to 1955). In this regard, we used as our methodology the historical resizing, proposed by the historian Márcia Motta, to overcome the actions of cooperative activists, reduced to the mere categorization of ideologists of the cause.

Sin embargo, nos interesa conectar la doctrina mutualista presente en sus textos, discutiendo aspectos doctrinales correlacionados con la práctica de fundar mutualidades, que sería, a su juicio, la forma más viable para que los campesinos amazónicos enfrenten el aislamiento uniendo fuerzas. Se analiza el tipo de política pública centrada en la cuestión agraria, desplegada en el Estado de Pará, en las décadas de 1940 y 1950. Un período de diez años, entre 1945 y 1955. En este sentido, usamos como metodología el redimensionamiento histórico, propuesta por la historiadora Márcia Motta, para superar el accionar de los cooperativistas, reducidos a la mera categorización de ideólogos de la causa.  O presente artigo objetiva discutir o cooperativismo operacionalizado pelo literato paraense Bento Bruno de Menezes Costa, com produções variadas no universo das letras. Entretanto, interessa-nos conectar a doutrina mutualista presente em seus textos, discutindo os aspectos doutrinários, correlacionado a prática de fundação de sociedades mutualistas, que seriam, em sua opinião, a maneira a maneira mais viável de os agricultores da Amazônia enfrentarem o isolamento ao agregarem forças. Analisa-se o tipo de política pública voltada à questão agrária, desdobrada no estado do Pará, nas décadas de 1940 e 1950, para tanto propomos observar a mediação do Serviço de Assistência ao Cooperativismo, uma vez que Bruno de Menezes foi servidor da mesma por um período de dez anos, entre 1945 a 1955.
