WHAT IS THE HISTORY OF AFRICA FOR? Routes for its functionality in Basic Education

In this article we aim to answer an apparently simple question, but with an epistemological depth for History and its teaching. To this end, the discussion begins on the concept of History and what its functionality is, based on a traditional logic and the conception of History for Africans. Next, we approach the traditional historiographic trends, Positivism, Marxism and the Analles school, relating them to the History of Africa, understanding that the History of the African continent cannot be reduced to traditional historiographic trends, but rather as to how they address this topic. Finally, we present decolonial thinking as a possible approach that represents the struggle against the logic of coloniality in African History.
