Resumo: | Abstract: On the assumption that the movements of 25 April in Portugal and the Diretas Já in Brazil were the most prominent exponents of the mobilise popular in both countries, this article proposes to investigate the (des) paths of the transition processes of the dictatorial regimes towards democracy in Brazil and in Portugal. Features in support the idea that in both countries, their transition plans controlled "by the high" were subverted by mobilizing "underneath". Therefore, dictatorial regimes, despite the negotiations developed throughout the process, were defeated by social forces that stepped in and moved the existing forces relationships until then. Keywords: 25 April.Diretas Já.Transition.Resumen: A partir de la ideaque los movimientos 25 de abril en Portugal y las Directas Ya en Brasil, fueron los más destacados exponentes de la movilización popular en los dos países, ese artículo propone investigar los (des)caminos de los procesos de transición de los regímenes dictatoriales en dirección a la democracia en Brasil y en Portugal. Presenta como fundamento la idea de que en los dos países, sus planes de transición controlada superficialmentefueron desorganizados por la movilización menos superficial. Así, los regímenesdictatoriales que examinan las negociaciones desarrolladas a lo largo del proceso, fueron derrotados por las fuerzas sociales que surgieron y cambiaron las relaciones de fuerzas vigentes. Resumo: Partindo do pressuposto que os movimentos 25 de Abril em Portugal e as Diretas Já no Brasil foram os mais destacados expoentes da mobilização popular nos dois países, esse artigo propõe-se a investigar os (des)caminhos dos processos de transição dos regimes ditatoriais rumo à democracia no Brasil e em Portugal. Apresenta como fundamento a ideia de quenos dois países, seus planos de transição controlada “pelo alto” foram subvertidos pela mobilização “por baixo”. Assim sendo, os regimes ditatoriais, em que pesem as negociações desenvolvidas ao longo do processo, foram derrotados pelas forças sociais que entraram em cena e deslocaram as relações de forças vigentes até então.
