Our main aim is developing a decolonial reading of Camila Sosa Villada’s Las malas on the codes that communicate the periphery of represented subjects and the marginalization of their bodies. From these codes, we’ll focus on the violence in its various modulations – particularly against transvestites, making room to what the author herself calls “perpetual mistreat”, but also against women, police and medical violence, etc. –, mendicancy, addiction, (no an option but to) prostitution, suicide. Among the spheres in which they will be investigated, we’ll emphasize sociopolitics, linguistics and aesthetics, not losing sight of the regime of inseparability of form and theme. In this regard, we endorse the rhizomatic form of the novel, its narrative conception that breaks with conventional structural paradigms; this break reflects the sociopolitical decline related to the processes of hierarchization and outremization through which the fiction (or utopia) of Modernity was woven. Enough: no center, no margins.
