A LEI DE BIOSSEGURANÇA E OS AVANÇOS DA BIOTECNOLOGIA COMO INSTRUMENTO DE INCLUSÃO SOCIAL

Resumo: O uso de células-tronco de embriões para pesquisa e o plantio de alimentos transgênicos em território nacional foram autorizados pela Lei de Biossegurança, recentemente aprovada. Por outro lado, já existe a Lei da Propriedade Industrial que permite o patenteamento de microorganismos geneticamente modificados. O confronto dessas duas leis pode interferir no futuro da engenharia genética. Uma profícua associação entre o direito e a genética pode evitar que no futuro, megagrupos estrangeiros especulem sobre o patenteamento da vida, pela via da exploração mercadológica.
