Resumo: During Rafael Correa's presidency (2007-2017) in the Republic of Ecuador, occurred several debates focused on the character and meaning of his domestic and foreign policies. The following article aims to analyse Ecuador's bilateral relations with the United States of America (U.S.) during Correa's governments. The article hypothesises that, as in its internal politics, the foreign policy of the Citizen Revolution presented ambivalences and contradictions resulting from the discrepancies between the political desire of the governing group and the material bases of the affirmation of his project in Ecuadorian society, with the difficulties of concretising the strategy of political-strategic distance from the U.S., being one of the clearest examples. Thus, the process of the rise and consolidation of Correa, the general orientations of the government's foreign policy, and the way these issues have interacted with the character of bilateral relations with the U.S. will be analysed in sequence.

O artigo a seguir visa analisar as relações bilaterais equatorianas com os Estados Unidos da América (EUA) durante os governos correístas. A hipótese do artigo é de que, assim como na sua política interna, a política externa da Revolução Cidadã apresentou ambivalências e contradições decorrentes das discrepâncias entre a vontade política do grupo governante e as bases materiais da afirmação de seu projeto na sociedade equatoriana, sendo as dificuldades de concretização da estratégia de afastamento político-estratégico dos EUA um dos seus mais claros exemplos.
