Resumo: The objective of this paper is to assess to which extent diplomatic discourse accompanies the China-Japan-U.S. trilateral relationships in the 2008-2018 period. Through statistical inference on semantic orientation of online speeches from foreign ministers and the secretary of State, we discover that the discourses reflect the status of the trilateral relationship, although we report that Chinese and Japanese speeches find better correspondence than American ones to empirical observations.
