Resumo: Peace operations are subject of several debates and critics in the International Relations studies.These debates allow us to observe how the peacebuilding process is conducted and internationallyrationalized. The aim of this paper is to demonstrate how the changes of the understandings about peace reflect on the United Nations’ peace operations, relating those changes with the critiques for liberal peace and the local turn studies. The paper is structured in three sections. The first section presents the practices of peace operations during the Cold War period. The second section discusses the changes on the peace operations after de Cold War, and it presents the context and international logic that made them possible, pointing out the main critiques about peace operations. At last, the final section presents the local turn critique, focusing on the concepts of hybridism and hybrid peace.

Essas discussões permitem que observamos como o processo de construção de paz é conduzido e racionalizado internacionalmente. O objetivo desse artigo é demonstrar como as mudanças de entendimento de paz se refletem nas operações de paz das Nações Unidas, relacionando-as com as críticas da literatura que abrangem a paz liberal e também da virada local. A metodologia utilizada são as técnicas qualitativas de análise documental de fontes primárias. O artigo está estruturado em três seções. A primeira seção apresenta a operacionalização das operações de paz durante o período da Guerra fFia. A segunda seção discute as mudanças das operações após a Guerra Fria, apresentando o contexto e a lógica internacional que possibilitaram o desenvolvimento da construção da paz e salientando as principais críticas às operações de paz.
