This master’s dissertation aims to analyze the work activity of the multi professional mental health team in the context of psychiatric emergency. The theoretical perspective adopted in the study concerns the psychodynamics of work, which consists of a discipline that focuses on the knowledge of intersubjective relations between work and mental health. This is a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory research, conducted with 13 professionals working in the mental health emergency service. Data collection was performed through recorded individual interviews, guided by a semi-structured script. Results show that a part of the professionals did not have mental health performance as a career perspective. In the second category is explored the working conditions and gaps identified in the service, which directly reflects in the professional practices. The results indicate that the work activity is complex and full of unpredictability. The implications of intensity and work overload for subjectivity and health were also highlighted.
