Resumo: The particularities and developments of flexibilized capitalism have produced a significant increase in work stressors and, consequently, in workers who become ill due to complete exhaustion at work, leading to the Burnout Syndrome (SB). SB appears in the person as a response to chronic occupational stress and tends to occur when the worker's strategies fail or are insufficient to effectively face the stressful factors of the work environment (Coping). The present research proposed to verify the presence of SB relating it to Coping strategies and work aspects, noticed as stressful, by policemen from the Third Military Police Battalion in the city of Patos, Paraíba, Brazil. The type of study was descriptive, ex post facto, with cross-sectional and quantitative approach. Participated in the study 200 policemen (50% of the public), voluntarily and anonymously, answering the instruments: Cuestionário para la Evaluación del Síndrome de Quemarse por el Trabajo (CESQT), Occupational Coping Scale (ECO) and a Sociodemographic and Work Questionnaire. SPSS software was used to record the data and perform descriptive statistics, correlational and multiple linear regressions and Iramuteq software to perform R statistics for content analysis. The results indicate 21,5% of the sample with SB in their moderate (18%) and severe (3,5%) forms. To cope with occupational stress, the Coping Control highlighted as the most used strategy among the police officers and the one that showed the best predictor of the Illusion through Work dimension of SB. Regarding work stressors perceived, the content analysis of the answers identified that the word most often mentioned was "lack", designating aspects that constitute work stressors for the policemen, such as the society's lack of recognition, superiors and the military institution itself, as well as the lack of proper conditions to perform their work. The research has contributed to evidence that military police officers of the Third BPM experience stressful work situations that can trigger the development of SB and they use Coping strategies of resolutive type in combating occupational stressors. This contribution can be used by the Third BPM Command in psychological interventions and programs aimed at improving concrete working conditions and worker health.

Submitted by Gabrielly Batista Gomes (gabriellybatist@gmail.com) on 2022-12-12T18:55:30Z No. of bitstreams: 2 Dissertação (FINAL) - GABRIELLY.pdf: 1710448 bytes, checksum: a743a4a86790ba99927c97f618ae62e4 (MD5) Termo de Depósito BDTD (1).pdf: 280334 bytes, checksum: 7c31ae633afcc6d7d4519364680ec48d (MD5)Approved for entry into archive by Jean Medeiros (jeanletras@uepb.edu.br) on 2022-12-13T17:01:47Z (GMT) No. of bitstreams: 2 Dissertação (FINAL) - GABRIELLY.pdf: 1710448 bytes, checksum: a743a4a86790ba99927c97f618ae62e4 (MD5) Termo de Depósito BDTD (1).pdf: 280334 bytes, checksum: 7c31ae633afcc6d7d4519364680ec48d (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2023-04-05T14:19:55Z (GMT).
