African counternarratives: action research in response to the construction of hegemonic stigmas

Resumo: This article presents part of the results of action research developed in Portuguese Language classes whose main objective was to promote knowledge and reflection on the African cultural universe presented in African and Afro-Brazilian literary works. Twenty-eight students from the 8th grade of Elementary School from a state public school in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, participated of an intervention that, during the diagnostic phase, presented concepts based on prejudice and subjugation of ethnic-racial issues related to the understanding of African and Afro-Brazilian culture. In the action-reflection phase, Literary Rounds were organized, and the teenagers were able to learn and debate about different aspects of the African culture, through different textual genres. In the evaluation phase, the narratives and counternarratives elaborated by the participants of this research indicated how they appropriated and came to understand the existing ethnic-racial diversity in an increasingly miscegenated and plural country. Afro-Brazilian counternarratives.El artículo presenta parte de los resultados de una investigación-acción, desarrollada en clases de Lengua Portuguesa, cuyo objetivo central fue promover el conocimiento y la reflexión sobre el universo cultural africano, presentado en obras literarias africanas y afrobrasileñas. Participaron en la intervención 28 estudiantes del 8º grado de la Enseñanza Primaria de una escuela de la red pública estatal de São Paulo que, durante la fase de diagnóstico presentaron concepciones encajadas ​​en el prejuicio y el sometimiento de las cuestiones relacionadas al entendimiento de la cultura africana y  afrobrasileña. En la fase de acción-reflexión, fueron analizadas Ruedas Literarias y los adolescentes pudieron conocer y debatir sobre diferentes aspectos de la cultura africana, por medio de diferentes géneros textuales. En la fase de evaluación, las narrativas y las contra-narrativas elaboradas por los participantes indicaron cómo se apropiaron y empezaron a comprender respetar esta diversidad étnico-racial existente en un país cada vez más miscigenado y plural. Contra-narrativas afrobrasileñas.Este artigo apresenta parte dos resultados de uma pesquisa-ação, desenvolvida em aulas de Língua Portuguesa, cujo objetivo central foi promover o conhecimento e a reflexão sobre o universo cultural africano apresentado em obras literárias africanas e afro-brasileiras. Participaram de uma intervenção 28 estudantes do 8º ano do Ensino Fundamental de uma escola da rede pública estadual paulista que, durante a fase diagnóstica, apresentaram concepções calcadas no preconceito e na subjugação de questões relacionadas ao entendimento da cultura africana e afro-brasileira. Na fase de ação-reflexão, foram organizadas Rodas Literárias e os adolescentes puderam conhecer e debater sobre diferentes aspectos da cultura africana, por meio de diferentes gêneros textuais. Na fase de avaliação, as narrativas e as contranarrativas, elaboradas pelos participantes desta pesquisa, indicaram como eles se apropriaram e passaram a compreender a diversidade étnico-racial existente em um país cada vez mais miscigenado e plural.
