The pedagogist and the educator: ideological models proposed by the journal O Ensino (1922-1924)

Resumo: This article addresses the role of the press as a research source in Brazil, from the 1970s onwards, without losing sight of its contribution as a vehicle of information and communication. From this perspective, journals, especially educational ones, are present as important sources of investigation of theories and practices that permeated the history of Brazilian education. In this study, the journal O Ensino [The teaching] (1922-1924) is highlighted, aiming to analyze the proposed conception in regard to teaching work, based on the article “Pedagogista e Educador”, by Cesar Prieto Martinez. The journal compares and questions the gap between the two meanings, highlighting the appreciation of practice to the detriment of theory. The objective of this article is to show the play on words that characterize the concept of teacher, defended by the Teaching Inspectorate of Paraná and the persuasive strategy in the journal that circulated in schools and that teachers from Paraná had access to. En este estudio, se coloca en evidencia la revista O Ensino [La Enseñanza] (1922-1924), con el objetivo de analizar la concepción propuesta en relación al trabajo docente, a partir del artículo “Pedagogista e Educador” de César Prieto Martínez. La revista compara y cuestiona la brecha entre las dos acepciones, destacando la valoración de la práctica en detrimento de la teoría. El objetivo de este artículo es mostrar el juego de palabras que caracterizan la concepción de profesor, defendida por la Inspección de Enseñanza de Paraná, y la estrategia persuasiva en la revista que circulaba en las escuelas y a la que tenían acceso los profesores paranaenses. Educador.Este artigo aborda o papel da imprensa como fonte de pesquisa no Brasil, a partir dos anos de 1970, sem perder de vista sua contribuição como veículo de informação e comunicação. Nessa perspectiva, fazem-se presentes as revistas, em especial, as educacionais, fontes importantes de investigação das teorias e práticas que permearam a história da educação brasileira. Neste estudo, coloca-se em evidência a revista O Ensino (1922-1924), visando analisar a concepção proposta em relação ao trabalho docente, a partir da matéria “Pedagogista e Educador”, de Cesar Prieto Martinez. A revista compara e questiona o distanciamento entre as duas acepções, destacando a valorização da prática em detrimento da teoria. O objetivo deste artigo é mostrar o jogo de palavras que caracterizam a concepção de professor, defendida pela Inspetoria de Ensino do Paraná e a estratégia persuasiva na revista que circulava nas escolas e que os professores paranaenses tinham acesso.
